Born and raised in the Deep South, Adreanna received her BA at the University of Georgia, where she double majored in Women’s Studies and English Literature. After completing her undergraduate degree, Adreanna spent a couple years in search engine marketing and working as a freelance journalist. In 2016, she began a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies at GSU, where she discovered her love of teaching. Her thesis “Bringing Sex to Theory: Sensational Affinity, Pleasure, and Sexual Pedagogy” explores black queer women’s sexualities through the lens of sensational affinity and examines queer pornograhies as a form of alternative sex education. While earning her MA, Adreanna also served as a graduate assistant to Georgia Tech’s LGBTQIA Resource Center, where she led Black History Month programming, facilitated interfaith dialogues, and helped to create the curriculum for the Center’s advance allyship trainings. Adreanna is interested in pleasure-based sex education, black sexuality, and the body and touch as sources of knowledge.
