Dr. Tangere Hoagland was awarded the Charles A. Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award

Dear WGSS community,

 

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Tangere Hoagland, who has just been awarded the Charles A. Caramello Distinguished Dissertation Award for dissertations completed in 2021. This award recognizes original work that makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline.  Dr. Hoagland's dissertation, titled “When Surviving is Illegal: Black Women and the Entrapment of U.S. Incarceration and Welfare,” is the winner in the disciplinary area of Social Sciences.

 

Congratulations as well to Dr. Hoagland's dissertation adviser Professor Michelle Rowley, as well as to her committee members, Profs. Elsa Barkley Brown, Psyche Williams-Forson, Rashawn Ray, and Terrion Williamson (external).
