WGSS to host teach-in on intertwined histories of the Black Radical Feminism and Palestinian liberation movements

On March 28, The Harriet Tubman Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies will welcome Dr. Nadia Alahmed to campus.

This teach-in explores how Palestinian liberation became a prominent feature of Radical Black Feminism of the 1980s and 1990s through the activisms of June Jordan, Angela Davis, and Alice Walker. We will discuss the contemporary history of the Black and Palestinian Solidarity movement and provide some historical analysis on the legacies, lessons, pitfalls, controversies, and possibilities of Black/Palestinian solidarities today.
