WGSS PhD Candidate joins cohort of dissertation fellows in prestigious fellowship from American Association for University Women

WGSS PhD candidate Montia Daniels has been awarded an American Dissertation Fellowship Award from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for the 2026-2027 academic year. Each year the American Association of University Women presents their annual Dissertation Fellowship award to doctoral students who demonstrate scholarly excellence and whose research shows originality in its design. 

The fellowship will support Montia's work on her ongoing dissertation project titled, "Daughtering Queerly: The Body, Religion, and Spirituality for Black Queer Women, Girls, and Nonbinary Folks in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia." Congratulations Montia!
